WHAT’S GOING ON?

The Ethiopian government has announced that Eritrean forces have begun to withdraw from Ethiopia’s northern Tigray region.

Horrifying witness accounts of savagery and sexual violence have emerged of Eritrean soldiers killing Tigrayan men and boys and raping displaced civilians.

The true death toll since the conflict started in November remains unknown, but almost 2000 people have been identified to have been killed in 150 massacres by warring factions.

From observation, it is obvious that what started as a “competition for power” has plummeted into ethnic cleansing.

“My case is not unique,” said Mona Lisa. “I fought the soldier off. But there are so many women all over this region who were actually raped.”

Many believe that the killings have become genocidal, starting off as being politically driven and morphing into the intent to destroy an entire people.

The Biden administration has been pressing for Eritrea to withdraw its forces, and for the Ethiopian government to end its military offensive.

The crisis is continuing to gain more and more attention, with celebrities such as The Weeknd, making hefty donations to those in need.

Last Sunday, the Grammy-Award winning singer of Ethiopian heritage announced that he’s donating $1 M towards relief efforts for his people.

SPIRITUAL ANALYSIS:

Blessings to all of you, my beloved brothers and sisters. Shalom. Welcome back to my blog! I greet you all, and I pray the Lord be with you, especially in such perilous times as these, as the Bible describes (2 Tim 3:1). It’s crazy how so many nations are currently facing inner turmoil and civil unrest… in fact, it’s almost alarming. Yet notice the keyword that I just used: “almost.” I say this because Jesus Christ clearly and specifically laid out how events such as these would look.

Matt 24:7 (KJV) reads that in the last days, “…nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.” Obviously, today’s story is a prime example of nation rising against nation. Even more so, later in the Bible Paul speaks to his spiritual son, Timothy, describing how people will act in this day and age. Scripture says that men shall be trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent (aka lack of self-control), despisers of those that are good, traitors, high-minded, and lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God (2 Tim 3:2-4 KJV), just to name a few of the attributes.

Yet despite the trials and tribulations of this world, and the type of wickedness that currently abounds in it, we are not without hope. In fact, the Word of God says that “As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter… [yet] in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us” (Rom 8:36-37 KJV). Child of God, the Bible doesn’t discredit the fact that we go through turbulent challenges. Yet in all these things, we are not victims. Victim mentality is not in our DNA. We are more than conquerors!

It’s only the Spirit of God that can give you this powerful outlook on life. When Apostle Peter was walking on water (Matt 14:22-31), his eyes were set on Jesus and not on the waves, and that gave him the supernatural strength to do what others could not do. Likewise, when our eyes our set on the Lord, the joy of the Lord becomes our strength (Neh 8:10), and we have the ability to overcome every battle and challenge, both in this world and the world to come.

So take heart, my dear brothers and sisters. In these times, don’t allow yourself to get distracted by politics, civil unrest, financial lack or any other care of this life. Never let these temporary cares cloud the place where Jesus Christ should reign in your heart. Receive Jesus’ peace that he mentioned that the world cannot give (John 14:27)… the type of peace that passes all understanding (Phil 4:7). Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace (Isa 9:6). He will never leave us nor forsake us (Heb 13:5), and he dwells on the inside of us (1 John 4:13). Rejoice that we are registered as citizens in an eternal kingdom that cannot be shaken!

MASSIVE OCEAN TRAFFIC JAM FINALLY FREED

MASSIVE OCEAN TRAFFIC JAM FINALLY FREED

EGYPT:

WHAT’S GOING ON?

Last Tuesday, a massive cargo ship got stuck in Egypt’s Suez Canal, halting ocean traffic for almost a week.

The cargo ship was knocked off course by a sandstorm and strong winds, which caused low visibility and poor navigation, said the Suez Canal authority.

An excavator removes sand and mud from the bow of the ship

This frustrating event had drawn global attention, since around 12% of worldwide trade goes through the canal. The blockage held up $9 billion a day in global trade, which was already burdened by the pandemic.

The canal is also an important corridor between Europe and Asia that helps speed up trade and shorten voyages.

Now, the ship has finally been fully dislodged and refloated.

This major blockage is expected to soon affect the world economy. Europe and Asia are in line to be most affected, with the impact on the United States being less direct.

SPIRITUAL ANALYSIS:

Shalom, brothers and sisters. God bless you… and welcome back to my blog!

For many of you, I’m sure that today’s topic jogged sweet memories of an old world-geography course you took when you were younger. For me, I remember learning about it in middle school. Yet it never crossed my mind that my prior knowledge of it would become useful for the headlining articles of today.

Last week, the ship blocked so much international trade that was supposed to pass through the canal. As a result, multitudes of goods were prevented from getting to where they needed to be. Yet just like international goods were delayed in arriving on time, perhaps there are areas of your life that appear delayed. Maybe that degree isn’t coming as fast as you thought it would. Perhaps it’s taking you longer than you thought for that green card, those finances, or fruit of the womb to come through.

Whatever that situation in your life may be, Child of God, there’s something that I need you to know. In the kingdom of God, delay is not denial! Our God is a God that is not confined to the restraints of time. What may seem delayed in our eyes is not troublesome to him at all. What may take 10, 15, even 20+ years in our own power can take God a tiny fraction of that time. The Bible tells us that “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness” (2 Pet 3:9 NIV). His timing is perfect, and incomparably better than our own!

Another very well-known verse in the book of Habakkuk speaks so profoundly about delay. It reads, “For the revelation awaits an appointed time… though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay” (Hab 2:3). Did you hear that? The Bible says though it lingers, wait for it! It will certainly come and will not delay! There is a blessing in waiting on God. Waiting is not hopeless. It is believing that God will surely do what he says he will do, despite what things look like around you.

Are there any “blockages” in your life? Don’t lose heart! Though things may tarry for a moment, God will surely do what he promises. He’s a man of his word!

Homework: Detect what areas of your life may be experiencing delay. Pray for that delay to be removed, and for the power of Jesus Christ to activate your life, accelerating you to where you should be! Meditate on Habakkuk 2:3 to boost your faith!

Asian Americans have experienced heightened distress from last week, since eight people were brutally shot and killed in Atlanta area spas, including six women of Asian descent.

Supporters from all over the country rallied this past weekend, demanding that harassment and attacks that have surged from the pandemic must stop now.

Since the pandemic, anti- Asian hate crimes have more than doubled. Yet authorities haven’t said whether the recent shootings in and around Atlanta were hate crimes.

Suspect Robert Aaron Long, 21, confessed to police that he believed he had a sex addiction and saw the spas as “a temptation… that he wanted to eliminate.”

Many individuals refuse to believe that the attack was driven by the suspect’s sex addiction, claiming that it was clearly a racially motivated crime.

How are the Atlanta spa shootings NOT a hate crime?

Multiple church congregations in Atlanta held a Korean language service outside the Gold Spa in honor of the victims. Some attendees held signs reading “Stop Asian Hate.”

SPIRITUAL ANALYSIS:

Shalom, my brothers and sisters… God bless you. Welcome back to my blog! 💝

As we delve into today’s topic, I must mention that to many of you, this particular news story isn’t very unfamiliar to you at all. It’s incredibly alarming for a crime like this to occur.

Even more so, for those of you that don’t know, Atlanta is where I currently live. I remember when I first heard of what had happened last week… the radio was completely interrupted by the news report. I was thinking to myself that only something serious could disturb the broadcast like that unawares. And it was.

My heart goes out to all who were directly affected by the wickedness that played out. In the book of Matthew, Jesus says during his famous Sermon on the Mount that “Blessed are they that mourn; for they shall be comforted” (Matt 5:4). It’s equally important to have compassion on those who are facing tribulation, as Apostle Paul writes in the book of Romans for us to “rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep” (Rom 12:15 ESV). As the Body of Christ, God calls us to stand and support those who are going through hardships and share their burdens.

Yet in doing so, let’s not be ignorant of the Devil’s devices (2 Cor 2:11). The truth is that “we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, [and] against the rulers of the darkness of this age…” (Eph 6:12). In this tragic news story, whether the killer’s motive was racially driven or driven by mental disturbance, the truth is that at the end of the day, it was still murder. The mind is a spiritual battlefield, and Jesus must sit on the throne of your soul in order for you not to be influenced by the enemy or the destructive carnality of humanity.

If we do not walk in the Spirit, we walk in the flesh. The Bible says that to be carnally minded is death, yet to be spiritually minded is life and peace (Rom 8:6). From today, choose to walk in obedience to the will of God, starting with the thoughts that you think inside of you. Be renewed in your thinking in order to be positively transformed, and in all circumstances, let’s continue to uphold our brothers and sisters in the Lord and pray without ceasing! (1 Tess 5:17). God hears, and he will surely answer. Remember that “the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much!” (Jas 5:16)

GHANA:

WHAT’S GOING ON?

Teenage pregnancies are a major problem in countless nations around the world. Yet in the nation of Ghana, it’s a monumental issue, leading to the disempowerment of girls and subjecting many of them poverty.

Ghana: Empowering The Disadvantaged Girl
Disadvantaged young woman in Ghana with her baby

It’s estimated that nearly one in seven woman in Ghana become pregnant before reaching the age of 19. Evidence further indicates that the numbers skyrocketed last year after schools closed from Covid.

Schools had offered a sense of protection and purpose to many girls. As a result of the shutdown, many of them found themselves idle and without adult supervision.

Ghanaian schools that were shut down from the pandemic were re-opened in January

Although teenage sexual activity rose during lockdown, most girls in Ghana do not have access to birth control. Since the nation is strongly religious and conservative, pregnancy termination is illegal, except in cases of incest, rape, fetal impairment or danger to the mother’s mental or physical health.

As of 2017, almost half of Ghana’s population was living below the poverty line, and since last year, Covid plunged the nation into recession.

Some parents are unable to care for their children. In a desperate need to survive. Their daughters are forced to follow men who offer them money.

Upon pregnancy, it is rare that young mothers return to school due to fear of stigma and a need to support themselves. They often settle for smaller jobs, unable to obtain a higher-paying career, driving them deeper into the poverty rut.

SPIRITUAL ANALYSIS:

Blessings and shalom, my brothers and sisters… and welcome back to my blog! God bless you all dearly.

We have quite an interesting topic this week that I believe is not talked about nearly as much as it should be. Almost anyone can see that the general well-being of teenagers is so overlooked within society. But more specifically, teenage women who find themselves pregnant are often looked down upon and rejected. Many find themselves in a rut, unsure of how to move forward in their lives, based on their circumstances.

There are so many situations in this life that seem incredibly unfair, such as growing up in an impoverished area, being sexually assaulted, being raised with one or no parents, and so on. But I want you, my dear, to be aware of one key fact: Our God is a God who has a reputation for changing stories! It doesn’t matter what cards you’ve been dealt with in life… Jesus Christ can take you from a nobody into a somebody in an instant!

From Genesis to Revelation, we see so many instances of God changing stories. Abram, who was a pagan, had his name changed by God to be called Abraham, who became a father of many nations (Gen 17:5). In Exodus, we see God changing the stories of abused Israelite slaves to become war heroes and rulers years afterwards (Exo 6:6-8). Even in the new testament, we witness stories like Saul, who was a mass terrorist against Christians. His name was later changed by God to be called Paul. Paul wrote the majority of the New Testament, and played a huge role in spreading the Gospel across nations.

Yet one of my favorite stories is the story of Mephibosheth, the son of King David’s best friend, Jonathan. He was crippled since childhood, and had grown up in a ghetto town called Lo-Debar. To show loving kindness to his best friend, Jonathan, who died in battle, King David commanded for Mephibosheth to share in his royalty and eat at his table. Mephibosheth went from poverty to wealth in an instant… from Lo-Debar to the palace (2 Sam 9:1-13)!

What is your Lo-Debar that you’ve found yourself in? What is that situation that you have no idea how things will change? Let me tell you something, Child of God. There’s not one situation that’s too impossible for him! Whatever challenge you may be facing, and whatever miracle you are in need of, put your trust in the one who owns “the cattle upon a thousand hills” (Ps: 50:10 KJV). He will never fail you! From today, your story is being changed for the better in Jesus name!

Homework:

Meditate on this scripture: Philippians 4:6-7. Never give up or settle, knowing that God will hear you and intervene on your behalf. Have faith and believe that God can bring you into the very best of your life!

UNITED KINGDOM/USA:

What’s Going On?

Hosted by Oprah Winfrey, the explosive interview between Prince Harry and Meghan divided the world since Sunday night, as the Sussexes came out the open about experiences of racism, and lack of emotional and financial protection.

Much drama was exposed during the interview, and the world now has an inside scoop on how life has truly been for the Prince and his wife since their wedding day.

To begin, Meghan said she had contemplated suicide while living and working as a member of the British Royal family. At one point, she sought help from a senior royal on possibly looking into inpatient care, and was told it would not be possible, because it “wouldn’t be good for the institution.”

She then confessed that she was bashed with racist attacks. The couple said that the issue of race may be behind the family’s decision to deny their son, Archie, a title or security protection for him.

Harry added to the conversation, explaining that “My family had literally cut me off financially.” He went on to describe his life in the United States, saying “I’ve got what my mum left me, and without that, we would not have been able to do this.”

SPIRITUAL ANALYSIS:

To my lovely brothers and sisters worldwide, shalom. Welcome back to my blog! I pray that the Lord is continuing to keep you as you continue to keep the faith, and I pray that all is well with you.

For this week, this particular topic has dominated the mass media so much already that I’m sure you’re more than familiar with it by now. From what was said in the interview, it’s apparent that there have been challenges in the royal family. Yet it must be understood that the royal family is just like any other family, in terms of internal hardships and disputes. Family is a divine design from God himself, and the devil seeks to plant seeds of strife and disputes in attempts to destroy what he has created and instituted.

Yet whether we are of earthly royalty or not, the Bible has a completely different perspective on what it is to be regal. 1 Peter 2:9 describes to us that “ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people…” Did you hear that, Child of God? Just because you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you have been adopted into His royal family! In fact, you have been translated from the power of darkness to the Kingdom of God’s dear son! (Col 1:13).

Therefore, it is completely irrational to envy anyone else’s life on this earth, even if they may have the most prestigious life imaginable, from our perspective. No one is immune to the battles of life, no matter how well off they may seem. Within the article, Meghan confessed that she was facing a plethora of discrimination and serious suicidal thoughts. No matter what a person’s status is in society, strong faith in God and support from others in the faith is paramount.

We must understand that money is not the highest achievement in life. In the book of Proverbs, King Solomon wrote that a dinner of herbs where love is present is better than a dinner of a fattened ox (Prov 15:17). Essentially, he was conveying that peace with little material possession is better than wealth with strife. Don’t get me wrong… God wants us to prosper in every area of life, including finances. However, our trust, security, and stability must be in God alone, and money can’t buy peace and divine protection for all of life’s trials and tribulations.

In a nutshell, what I’m saying is that no matter what walk of life you may be in, the truth is that we who put our faith in Jesus look forward to a better country (Heb 16:11), as citizens of Heaven. It will be a place where there will be no more sorrow and no more tears (Rev 21:4). Until then, we live the abundant life that Jesus has for us on this earth, knowing that though the world may seem quite dark, we shine even brighter. We are the light of the world, a city set on a hill that cannot be hid (Matt 5:14)!

Bi-Weekly Homework: This week we briefly brushed on the topic of family. Think of ways you can help clean up matters in your own household and be a light to your relatives. Start working on them from today. Your family is your most important ministry!

Hundreds of Nigerian school girls return from abduction

NIGERIA:

WHAT’S GOING ON?

Celebration breaks out worldwide as hundreds of Nigerian school girls that were abducted from a boarding school in the country’s northwest region are released.

Hundreds of Nigerian schoolgirls return home safely

They were kidnapped from the Government Girls Junior Secondary School in Jangebe town on Friday. The government said that 317 were kidnapped last week, yet it is still unclear if other girls are missing, or if the higher number was an error.

The girls, ages 10 and up, are waiting to receive a medical checkup before being returned to their parents.

Officials say “bandits” were behind the abduction. The group consisted of armed men in Zamfara state who threaten for the release of their members from jail or kidnap for money.

At the time of the raid, the gunman had also attacked a military camp and checkpoint, preventing the soldiers from reacting.

In the past few years, Nigeria has seen many attacks similar to these. The most notorious one happened in 2014, when 276 girls were abducted from a secondary school in Chibok, Borno State, by jihadist rebels of Boko Haram. Over 100 of these girls are missing to this day.

Referring to the Zamfara raid, President Muhammad Buhari expressed “overwhelming joy” over the girls’ release, calling for greater vigilance to be made in preventing these attacks. He also warned that paying money for victim release would result in future assaults.

SPIRITUAL ANALYSIS:

Shalom, my brothers and sisters and welcome back to my blog! I pray that all is well with you, and despite these challenging times, may the scripture be true for you that when men are cast down, others shall say there is a lifting up (Job 22:29)! In other words, when others are struggling around you, because of the God that you serve, you and your household will be thriving, no evil will come near you (Ps 91:10). Hallelujah!

This week, we have an incredible story that celebrates the rescue of hundreds of girls from captivity. From the perspective of the girls, their temporary situation may have seemed utterly hopeless. Yet within a day, their stories were radically transformed. Not all of us can relate to such a circumstance that is so dangerously life threatening. However, I’m sure that if I ask you to tell me about a moment in your life where you were clueless as to how you were going to come out, you would easily be able to tell me!

Maybe that’s you right now. You’re in a rough place, wondering how you got there and even more so how you’re going to get out. Like Daniel who was thrown into the lions den (Dan 6), it may feel like all odds are against you, and all hope is lost. Yet God closed the mouths of the lions, preserving him through his trial, and Daniel was promoted shortly after. Our God is a God who avenges the oppressed, and he will always leave the 99 for one (Matt 18:12).

Do you feel spiritually “abducted” or “trapped,” like your prayers are bouncing off brick walls and coming right back to you? I want you to know that God payed the ultimate ransom for you, for you to live a completely free life in him. Even if you find yourself in temporary bondage, there is no chain too strong for the power of Jesus to break it! God definitely sees your situation, and if you have just a little bit of faith, that mountain that you are facing has no choice but to move (Matt 17:20).

My favorite psalm in the Bible proclaims, “When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. Then our mouths were filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing…” (Ps 126). I declare and decree, may God turn around your captivity. May your pain and tears be replaced with laughter, joy, and singing, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name!

CANADA:

WHAT’S GOING ON?

Surely, many have whole-heartedly hoped that the existence of concentration camps would have died with the German Nazi age. Yet to the surprise of multitudes, this is far from true today.

Just this week, Canada’s parliament passed a non-binding motion, deeming China’s treatment of its Muslim Uighur minority to be government-instituted genocide. Though the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, as well as the majority of his cabinet, had abstained the decision, the motion passed a vote of 266-0 in the House of Commons this past Monday.

If the treatment in China continues, Canada considers calling a vote for the International Olympic Committee to move the 2022 Winter Olympics from Beijing.

“More than one million Uighurs and other Turkic Muslims are or have been in camps. The testimonies we’ve heard from witnesses and survivors [have] been horrifying,” Conservative Party leader Erin O’Toole told reporters.

Interestingly enough, China has denied abuses, saying that its camps provide vocational training and are necessary for the fight against extremism.

Canada, in addition to the US and 56 other countries, endorsed a declaration this month, condemning the political detention of foreign nationals across the globe

The past administration of US President Donald Trump declared that China had committed “genocide and crimes against humanity” against the Uighurs in Xinjiang.

Just last month, the United Kingdom pronounced the violations of human rights in China to amount to “horrific barbarism” against the Uighurs.

SPIRITUAL ANALYSIS:

Blessings, my brothers and sisters… shalom. Welcome back to my blog! This week we have some rather shocking news, regarding a minority group in China who is currently undergoing very severe persecution. Just because of their ethnic identity, millions of individuals in that country are being enslaved and detained.

Even though it has been a while since Canada has known about this issue, it was just recently that they officially spoke against it. Oftentimes as Christians, it is easy for us to be bystanders in this life as we observe evil in this world, becoming inactive in the faith as we wait for Jesus to return. Yet as easy as it us for us to live this type of life, the Bible is not in agreement with it at all! Jas. 2:20 reads that “faith without works is dead” (KJV). God does not want a dormant church that focuses on self-preservation. He wants us to be his active vessels in establishing his kingdom on earth NOW!

Jesus desires for us to not just verbally claim that we love him, but to be on fire for him! Within scripture, he warns us against being lukewarm. In a message to a certain church, he chastises them, saying “So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of my mouth.” I don’t know about you, but I would rather hear a “well done, my good and faithful servant” (Matt 25:21) from the Lord than for him to spew me out of his mouth… I’m sure you do as well!

My dear, I urge you to not just be a hearer of the Word but a doer as well (Jas 1:22). What is the point of living an unauthentic Christian life? When people see you, they should see Jesus. When they hear of you, they should think of Jesus. Covid or no Covid… Jesus still sits on the throne, and even though many activities in the world may have slowed and paused, the kingdom has not. A wise man once said that if you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything. Make up your mind today and chose this day whom you will serve (Josh 24:15 KJV). From today, I must ask you… will you chose to put your foot down against what God deems to be evil and stand for Christ?

CAMEROONIAN MAN ARRESTED GIVES STUNNING DETAILS OF BABY TRAFFICKING OPERATION

CAMEROONIAN MAN ARRESTED GIVES STUNNING DETAILS OF BABY TRAFFICKING OPERATION

CAMEROON:

Last month, Cameroon police said they had opened investigations into a network of human traffickers who allegedly purchase babies from the state to sell in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Members of the network were arrested recently with babies they had bought and a mother who said she desired to sell her unborn child because of her poverty, in Cameroon’s capital, Yaoundé. They are believed to have illegally sold scores of children. The mother was also arrested.

Baudouin Gweha, a senior official of the Gendarmerie post, says that he had arrested 41-year-old Pierre Essola, for executing an activity that directly violates human dignity. Essola told the Cameroon police that all negotiations with potential buyers and sellers were carried out via telephone.

He confessed to have found a Congolese woman on social media offering to help single and teenage mothers to take care of their newborn babies. He had immediately reached out to the Congolese women through WhatsApp, telling her that a large number of girls with unwanted pregnancies in Cameroon were in need of assistance. Essola said he had recorded videos of the poor teenage mothers and sent them to the woman in Congo, and while in Cameroon, the woman disclosed to him that she had an assistant who helps her purchase babies from the coastal Cameroonian city of Douala.

Essolla claims his intention is to help poor mothers, especially teens who abandon their babies on the streets since there is no one to help care for them.

It was reported by Cameroonian police that last year, several hundreds of children were left abandoned on the streets by poor mothers. After their mothers had abandoned them, at least two dozen babies were either found dead or killed.

Gweha says Essolla is part of a network in the DRC that sells Cameroonian babies, and that an online trafficker is among those already arrested, who facilitates the buying and selling of newborns.

He further mentions that the Cameroonian police have arrested two mothers who sold their babies, two women from the DRC who bought babies, and a babysitter the woman paid to care for the newborns in Yaoundé. The four babies recovered from the traffickers were received by Chantal Biya hospital in Yaoundé for medical care and follow-up.

Gweha said the buyers paid $6,000 for healthy children that were more than 3 months old, and $2,000 for a 1-day-old baby who was still very fragile.

The police said the children were fed infant formula and hidden in a Yaoundé house. They were then given injections that put them to sleep. Yet the cries of the children and the presence of a pregnant girl near the house caused neighbors to alert the police.

Gweha said it was not the first time the women from the DRC bought children from Cameroon, but because of the investigation, he was unable to reveal the towns of origin and identities of the Congolese women.

Betty Nancy Fonyuy, manager of Timely Performance Care Center- based in Yaoundé, says poor mothers are able to seek services from organizations like her own who take care of poor and vulnerable children.

“Children that their parents cannot be able to take care, they bring them to the center, we take care of them, we feed them, we clothe them, we even send aid to their homes,” she said. “There are so many centers in Cameroon to help. Poverty in Cameroon is not all that bad to make people to sell their children out. And those that are selling children to other nations, this is very wrong.”

There are no concrete statistics on the illicit exploitation of children in Cameroon, but the central African state says childless couples within and out of its borders are increasingly stealing or buying babies and claiming them as their own.

Cameroon also says that it is continuing working to dismantle child trafficking networks among Cameroon, Chad, Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

The U.S. State Department’s 2020 trafficking in persons report states that Cameroon also is a source, transit, and destination country for children subjected to sex trafficking and forced labor.

SPIRITUAL ANALYSIS:

Blessings to all of you, my blessed brothers and sisters, and welcome back to my blog! It’s so wonderful to have you here, and I am so happy that you are connected to this site, knowing that in doing so, you too have joined the massive global movement, for the gospel to boldly be preached in every nation! This week, I’ve chosen to speak to you using the topic of human trafficking, which is a very serious and prevalent issue within our world today.

Human trafficking is the act of illicit buying and selling of human beings, for the means of sex, profit, forced labor, and other forms of wicked exploitation. Within the article above, many of the mothers who sold their babies to traffickers did so because they were poor and had no one to care for the child. However, it was also mentioned that the mothers could have chosen to reach out to safe, legitimate organizations for help instead of resorting to traffickers. Just like these women chose to solve their legitimate concerns by completely irrational means, it is so evident that people in this day and age tend to treat their faith in God just the same.

Even as Christians, sometimes we find ourselves turning in all other directions besides God to find what only He can provide. In the book of John, Jesus preached, declaring, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6 KJV). How many times have we sought answers, purpose, and life from every other area except God? Perhaps you have looked to relationships, drugs/alcohol, finances, or improving your physique to find ultimate satisfaction. Yet people come and go, drugs damage health, finances fluctuate, and human bodies eventually grow old. Even though not all of these are bad for you, none of these last, and pursuing them with your all can leave you very empty.

Jesus further taught, saying, “But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life” (John 4:14 KJV). My dear brothers and sisters, I testify that there is so much more to life than what you can see. As believers, we walk by faith and not by sight (2 Cor. 5:7). Likewise, the Bibles says that “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth” (John 4:24 KJV).

People of the world turn to the things of this world to ultimately satisfy all of their needs and desires, yet for us as the Children of God, we are of a different breed. We turn to the Creator of all things, because we know where our help comes from (Ps. 121:1)!

NOTORIOUS “DR. DEATH” DISCOVERED TO STILL BE PRACTICING MEDICINE

Wouter Basson during a news conference in Cape Town, September 13, 2005.

SOUTH AFRICA:

Wouter Basson, the doctor in charge of Project Coast, an apartheid-era biological and chemical weapons program devoted to targeting the nation’s black population, has been found continuing to practice medicine in a private clinic outside Cape Town. The unfathomable revelation has hit South Africa hard.

From casual observation, he seems like the average man, except for one major detail: from 1981 until the mid-1990s, Basson was the all-powerful leader of Project Coast. The project was designed by the apartheid regime as a chemical and biological weapons program in order to develop substances that could sterilize, poison or kill South Africa’s black citizens.

Cardiologist Dr. Wouter Basson

For several years, the cardiologist has been working for the Mediclinic group, yet it was only recently this year that the public made the connection between the Basson who was a medical professional and the Basson who stood trial for his alleged crimes in a drawn-out courtcase that unfolded from 1999-2001. Mass media eventually caught wind of the news, triggering a tsunami of emotional outrage in South Africa.

Although there are a plethora of examples of grand evils committed against humanity under apartheid, Project Coast’s scientific developments and overall philosophy are some of the most shocking aspects of the era. The philosophy of these scientific developments stemmed from the need for the country to develop non-lethal weapons, enabling them to control crowds of black protestors. The country allowed Project Coast to operate since it was not explicitly forbidden.

The majority of the research shared a common purpose: to develop agents capable of poisoning human beings and equally going undetected post-mortem. Scientists began working to develop powder and liquid forms of known toxic substances that could be used in ammunition, weapons, and even everyday items, such as chocolates, drinks, cigarettes, etc.

What’s more, the Project Coast team identified a select number of “targets” for elimination, including Nelson Mandela, who was imprisoned at the time. During this time, they attempted to devise a way for him to get cancer so that “his release would present less of a political problem.”

Basson also desired to explore untypical means of crowd control. His dream project was an invention named the “black bomb,” a biological weapon that would selectively attack black people. Other ideas included sterilant sprays, the pollution of water supplies, and the creation of poisonous drugs to incapacitate or kill their users. The research within their labs were focused on methaqualone and cannabis, the two most highly used drugs in the black community.

On March 31, 1993, the doctor officially retired from the armed forces and the government ordered for all stocks of biological and chemical weapons owned by them to be destroyed. The verdict was handed down on April 11, 2oo2; Bason was acquitted on all charges against him. The Constitutional Court confirmed in 2005 that the prosecution could reopen the proceedings, but this never ended up happening.

SPIRITUAL ANALYSIS:

Shalom, my sweet family in the faith, and welcome back to my blog! For this week, we have a very interesting story to talk about, and I believe much can be taken from it in order to help us better understand the world in which we live in, as we analyze it through the eyes of Christ.

The doctor mentioned within this article is one who seems very reputable on the outside, yet under close examination, he was found to have very evil intentions. Just like there are false doctors within the medical profession, in the Christian faith, there are some false prophets, teachers, other leaders who exist among the multitude of good ones. Matt 7:15 (KJV) reads, “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.”

Child of God, allow me to explain something so important for you to understand. There are people in this life that seem like they are there to help you, yet their intentions toward you are actually for your demise. I am not at all talking solely about Christian figures in your life, I am talking about the people around you in general. Perhaps you have friends that celebrate you in public and tear you down in private. Maybe there have been those who had promised to take care of you but instead had ended up abusing you.

Whatever the case may be in your life, it takes the discernment of God to know what’s good for you versus what is not. Without this gift of discernment, you may be embracing the wrong type of people in your life that are affecting you negatively. 1 Cor. 15:33 (NIV) commands us, “Do not be misled: ‘Bad company corrupts good character’” Likewise, even if a person seems reputable and acceptable to others, if they are deemed bad company in the eyes of God, then they are not for you! You are all to valuable to the King of King and Lord of Lords… so not everyone can be allowed in your circle of influence.

God commands us to love others, yet we are not commanded to put our trust in anyone… only in him. The book of Proverbs tells us to “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding” (Prov 3:5 KJV). When we put our trust in man, we find that we are oftentimes greatly disappointed. Yet when we put our trust in God, we cannot be shaken or moved.

Bi-weekly Homework: Evaluate 2 sets of people in your life: Those who are pouring into you and leading/mentoring you, and your circle of influence/peers around you. Are your life leaders helping you to become who God has designed you to be? Are the people around you challenging you to be a better version of yourself? If not, then it’s time for some serious and immediate change!

SPIRITUAL ANALYSIS:

God bless you, my beloved brothers and sisters in Christ. Welcome back to my blog! I love and miss you all, and I am so happy that you are a part of all that this site is doing, on its course to spreading the Good News and preaching the gospel in every nation.

For this week, I’ve chosen to talk about the importance of physical health from a spiritual perspective, which is oftentimes not talked about enough in the church. Indeed, spiritual health is absolutely paramount, however, it becomes more difficult for an individual to carry out spiritual assignments when the body is not in optimal condition. The Bible says, “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies” (1 Cor 6:19 NIV). When we treat our own bodies right, we honor the God who created them.

Indeed, the ongoing Covid pandemic has driven many to begin eating healthier than ever before. However, as children of the living God, we don’t live healthy driven by fear of pestilence and infirmity, we live a healthy lifestyle primarily to give honor to our Lord Jesus Christ, who intricately designed us. In Ps 139:14 (NIV), King David praises God, exclaiming, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made…” Our bodies are the master handiwork and divine workmanship of the Almighty God.

Imagine that God has called you to preach from nation to nation, back to back, yet the current state of your body is unable to perform the magnitude of such a task. As wonderful and glorious an assignment like this is, the practicality of it is that you must have healthy lungs and strong, able legs for all of the moving and preaching that you will be doing. God is spirit. We are equally spirit beings made in his image who possess a physical body. No matter how powerful your spiritual assignment is, the earthly vessel of your body must be up to the task.

So yes, God desires that we eat healthy and stay fit, not to solely seek the praise, attention, and admiration of others, as people of the world do, but in order to ultimately glorify the magnificent God that we serve. Much like a manufacturer rejoices when his product performs the way it was intended to, when we equally function at our very best, it makes our Maker proud. May this year, 2021, be a year where we as God’s very own prize possession make him most proud.
